Let's dive into some exciting news about artificial intelligence in advertising. For the first time ever, AI passes the advertising Turing test. The AI-generated ads fooled marketing experts and performed better than typical US print ads in terms of creativity and evoking emotional responses. The competition involved 17 marketing experts who achieved only 57% accuracy in distinguishing AI-generated ads from human-made ones. The ads were created using AI tools like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion, and they were scored based on creative quality and emotional response. While some AI-generated ads outperformed the norm, human review is still necessary to address potential biases or copyright issues. Next, Facebook recently unveiled new AI models that can recognize and produce speech for over 1,000 languages! By retraining an existing AI model using audio recordings and text data from the New Testament in various languages, its researchers were able to overcome the challenge of limited labelled training data. The company claims their models outperform competitors, including OpenAI Whisper, with a lower error rate and broader language coverage. But that's not all. A study conducted by Botco.ai found 66% of marketers who have implemented generative AI have seen a positive ROI, with around 58% citing improved performance as the most important benefit. Other creative processes have seen similar benefits also. 50% cited increased creative variety, and 47% reported faster creative cycles. Further, 50% said cost efficiencies improved over time. This goes to show the power that AI is having across the marketing spectrum. And in some interesting news, Elon Musk is set to host a Twitter Spaces chat with Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who will officially launch his 2024 US Presidential Campaign. Musk has expressed his support for DeSantis in the past, and his endorsement is expected to have a significant impact on the campaign. Commentators suggest that Musk's involvement in the campaign may generate more engagement and usage on Twitter but it raises concerns about platform bias and the need for balanced representation. On today's episode, we covered the latest advancements in A.I, including AI passing the advertising Turing Test, Meta's impressive recognition of a thousand languages and research showing that marketers find generative A.I increasingly helpful. We also touched on Elon Musk's apparent support for presidential candidate, Ron DeSantis, and how he's using his ownership of Twitter to support him. As always, interesting times ahead.
